Roderick Johnson
Managing Director, Commercial Lending & Business Risk Solutions

Executive Profile
Roderick Johnson brings more than three decades of experience in commercial lending, small-business finance, SBA lending, business development, and financial services to Elite Physicians Wealth Planning. Throughout his career, he has worked with entrepreneurs, established businesses, professional firms, nonprofit organizations, government contractors, and other organizations seeking capital and financial guidance to support growth and long-term stability.
As Managing Director of Commercial Lending & Business Risk Solutions, Roderick expands the capabilities of Elite Physicians Wealth Planning beyond traditional personal financial planning. His role focuses on an issue that is particularly important to physicians and medical professionals: the financial health of the physician’s practice is often directly connected to the financial health of the physician and the physician’s family.
Roderick works with physicians, dentists, medical practices, healthcare entrepreneurs, government contractors, and other professional business owners to evaluate the capital and risk-management needs of their organizations. This may include helping a physician obtain financing to acquire or expand a practice, purchase commercial real estate, finance medical equipment, establish working capital, refinance existing obligations, or evaluate SBA and conventional commercial financing alternatives.
Commercial Lending & Practice Financing
Through the Commercial Lending and SBA Financing practice, Roderick helps clients identify financing strategies aligned with their business objectives. His approach begins with understanding the business rather than simply identifying a loan product. He evaluates the financing objective, expected use of capital, financial position, repayment capacity, and the type of lending relationship that may best support the transaction.
- SBA & Conventional Finance: SBA 7(a), SBA 504 and traditional commercial lending
- Practice Growth: Practice acquisition, expansion and partner buy-in/buyout financing
- Real Estate: Owner-occupied and other commercial real estate financing
- Capital Needs: Equipment, working capital and business lines of credit
- Restructuring: Debt refinancing and restructuring
- Business Transactions: Business acquisition and succession-related financing
Roderick’s prior professional experience includes working for the U.S. Small Business Administration as a Lender Relations Specialist to support the growth of small businesses. That background contributes to his understanding of the relationship between the business owner, lender, financial information needed, credit analysis, loan structuring, pricing and the SBA lending process.
Business Insurance & Risk Management
Roderick also brings insurance and risk-management experience to the Elite Physicians Wealth Planning relationship. A physician may spend decades building a successful medical practice, yet a serious liability claim, cyber event, property loss, employee dispute, disability, death of a key person, or extended business interruption can create substantial financial consequences.
His role is to help business owners identify significant exposures, review available coverage, and integrate business protection with the broader financial plan.
- Commercial general liability and business property insurance
- Professional liability/errors & omissions coverage
- Workers’ compensation and commercial auto
- Cyber liability and data-breach exposure
- Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI)
- Business interruption and business-income protection
- Business Owner Policies (BOP)
- Commercial umbrella and excess liability
- Contractor and specialized commercial coverage
- Key-person life insurance, buy-sell funding and business-continuity planning
A Specialized Focus on Physicians and Medical Practices
Within Elite Physicians Wealth Planning, Roderick’s role is particularly valuable because physicians frequently operate in two financial worlds simultaneously. They are individuals accumulating personal wealth, but many are also practice owners, partners or shareholders, employers, commercial borrowers, building owners, equipment purchasers, guarantors of business debt, purchasers of substantial business insurance, and future sellers or successors of valuable medical practices.
Elite Physicians Wealth Planning is designed to consider these areas together. Instead of addressing the physician’s investment portfolio in isolation, the planning process can evaluate how decisions involving the medical practice affect the physician’s personal financial future.
Example: A physician considering the purchase of an office building may need to evaluate commercial financing, cash reserves, property and liability insurance, retirement-plan contributions, tax consequences, and the effect of the transaction on personal wealth – all within one coordinated planning framework.
An Integrated Advisory Approach
Roderick works collaboratively with the Elite Physicians Wealth Planning team so that commercial lending and business insurance decisions can be considered alongside the physician’s broader financial strategy.
- Personal Wealth: Financial planning, investment and wealth-management strategies, retirement income, estate and legacy planning.
- Practice Wealth: Practice cash flow, retirement plans, business planning, tax-strategy coordination and succession planning.
- Commercial Capital: SBA and conventional financing, commercial real estate, acquisitions, equipment, working capital and expansion.
- Business Protection: Property and casualty insurance, liability protection, cyber risk, workers’ compensation and business interruption.
- Business Continuity: Key-person protection, buy-sell planning, succession strategies and preparation for the eventual transfer or sale of the practice.
Leadership & Business Experience
His professional background includes work involving commercial banking, small-business lending, SBA programs, government contracting, commercial real estate, nonprofit organizations, and business financial services. He has also earned undergraduate and graduate-level business and financial-management education, reinforcing the technical foundation behind his commercial advisory work.
Helping Physicians See the Entire Financial Picture
Roderick’s role fits the central mission of Elite Physicians Wealth Planning: a physician’s financial strategy should address more than investments. For physicians who own or are acquiring a practice, some of their largest financial risks and opportunities may exist inside the business.
- Is my practice appropriately capitalized?
- Am I using the right financing structure?
- Should I purchase or lease my office?
- How should I finance a practice acquisition?
- Are the practice and its assets properly insured?
- What happens financially if a key physician or employee dies?
- Is my business protected from cyber and employment-related risks?
- How does my business debt affect my personal financial plan?
- Is my retirement plan designed appropriately?
- How will I eventually transition or sell my practice?
- How do I convert the value built in my practice into personal and generational wealth?
Through his role at Elite Physicians Wealth Planning, Roderick helps address the capital, lending, and business-risk side of these questions while coordinating with the firm’s broader financial-planning and wealth-management team.
The Elite Physicians Wealth Planning Difference
The objective is not to create another collection of disconnected financial products. It is to give physicians access to professionals who can coordinate the financial decisions affecting both sides of their balance sheet: the physician and the practice.
Build the Practice. Finance the Practice. Protect the Practice. Build Personal Wealth. Prepare for Retirement. Create a Legacy.
